One Hundred and Fifteen guests attended The Welcome Party on Sunday 26 April.
The President of Coffs Quilters and Needlecraft Inc. Margaret Tozer welcome everyone with a special welcome to 31 International guests, including 28 Canadians on a Down Under Quilting Tour, a special friend of Be Creative, Lindsay Cash from Switzerland and Vikki and Denni Pignatelli from the USA. Vikki was one of the 12 tutors who who between them, conducted over 50 exciting and innovative workshops during the week of the retreat.
Julie Scanalan and Suzie Smith presented a specially hand made small memento to all international visitors.
Ted Greenwood from the NSW Cancer Council opened the “By the Sea” Exhibition and launched the fund raising for Breast Cancer Research.
During the Meet the Tutors, ten of the 12 tutors presented their workshop projects for the week.
Gloria McKinnon who generously donated the Hand Textile Scholarship to recipient Moya Dahlstrom.
Jane Barklimore presented her generous scholarship to Meridith Stone and Be Creative Sewing presented the Junior Scholarship to Morgan Stack and two encouragement awards to Megan Palmer and Maiysha Graig –
all year 11 students of Coffs Harbour High School.
